Divorce / Love

Just before Christmas I came into contact with a woman I first met in my practice prior to Christmas 1999, who was then at a low ebb as her husband had left her a couple of weeks earlier. She was so tense she could hardly speak and was worried about her future. She loved her husband but was uneasy with communication. He was outgoing (Efferent pattern) and she was shy and reserved (Afferent pattern) and there was a communication block. The more retreative she became, the more frustrated he became. His frustration with her created more retreat and stress in her, then he moved out.

A neighbour who was overcoming her own difficulties with her practise of Meta, recommended her to give Meta a go. She arrived for her first Meta treatment prior to Christmas’99 and was very lonely and depressed, sad with the idea of a future alone, as she did not have children. I treated her and introduced the Hand Symbols, which I recommended her to practise often. When the women returned for her appointment after Christmas, she seemed more relaxed and talkative saying “ I wish I’d had Meta prior to my husband going”. She was now beginning to live in the ‘moment’ with plans to move house and get on with her life. She was practising Meta very creatively in moments of sadness throughout her day and I thought her to treat herself. She continued to come for treatments once a week for support and became interested in the philosophy, which we discussed at each session. Her positive mental attitude and ability to get going was now replacing her reserved attitude, she was getting on better with her family and colleagues at her work.

Then her husband made contact with her at the end of January 2000, two months after she commenced Meta, to take her out for her birthday. She was feeling relaxed and was keen to go. They discussed their divorce and the sale of their house without confrontation. Her husband was surprised with the change in her and asked for another ‘date’. The date led to a holiday after which the woman’s husband returned. He was aware of her balance and observed her practising the Hand Symbols and she encouraged him to practise the symbols also. She attended my seminars in 2000 and as she grew in confidence with the practice, she began to treat her husband. They have since moved to a new house together and it was a joy to meet her prior to Christmas and observe how calm and creative she has become.

The couple loved each other, but the imbalance of their Afference and Efference had separated them. The balance she created with her everyday practise of Meta activated a positive response in him. Then when both take responsibility, the potential for a loving relationship can be created and maintained.

The happy relaxed woman I met before Christmas 2013 was a great contrast to the sad depressed woman I first met before Christmas 1999.

In my experience in Meta practice, if the motivation for the couple to marry is love and their imbalance of Afference and Efference is separating them, then Meta can bring them together and enrich their lives. However, if the motivation for marriage is anything other then love, then Meta can prompt an honest separation with much relief for the couple involved. Divorce is stressful for children and I encourage the parents to practice Meta with their children.

Autism and Downs syndrome

Metamorphosis is wonderful for Autistic, Downs Syndrome and children and adults with special needs. Robert St John used to say that the earlier you begin to treat the child, from birth to age five, the better the progress towards stability of mind. However, the age and severity of the condition is not important, if there is an open mind and a desire to help the child to create its own stability and independence. Meta helps the parents to cope and create their own balance and in my experience they naturally become excellent catalysts. In my practice, as I treat the child and teach the parents Metamorphosis I have seen the joy they experience in observing the “moments of awakening” in the recovery of the child’s stability of mind.

It is only a block or a “hold in time” that is in the way of the child with special needs. The Autistic is the extreme of Afference  (a pulling back or withdrawal pattern) which under identifies or retreats in life. The Downs Syndrome is the extreme of Efference (a pushing forward pattern) which over identifies in life. (Refer to The Principle of Metamorphosis). Meta creates the balance of Afference and Efference and in time can release the child from the “hold in time” to the awakening of life in the present “moment”. The attitude of the child changes and there is the potential of a road towards independence and creativity. The birthright of the child is to be free of the block and Metamorphosis provides that opportunity.

In my experience of introducing children with special needs and their parents to Meta over the years I have seen remarkable progress and observed the inner calm and stability in the children and parents who practice Metamorphosis. As the parent releases the fear for the future of the child, he/she can get involved in helping the child to create its independence. This attention and love creates security and balance and the gift of life in the‘moment’.

The mother of a five-year-old Downs Syndrome boy (extremely Efferently orientated) worried that her son who was diagnosed with severe Downs might never have independence in life. He began to have regular Meta treatments and was independent enough to take the bus to his special needs school by the age of nine. I treated them both regularly until the mother felt confident in becoming her son’s catalyst. Since commencing Meta the boy experienced much less physical symptoms. In the past he suffered from constant sinus and chest congestion, his appearance improved greatly as his tongue relaxed in his mouth. The awareness and sensitivity of his Afferent balance is giving him focus and creativity in music and art in his teenage years. His mother said that he is the most content of all her children and is a joy to his family and friends.

Another positive experience I have observed was when both parents of an extremely Afferently orientated girl (autistic pattern) became interested in Metamorphosis when the little girl was aged two. She was very withdrawn with no eye contact, curled in the foetal position on her mother’s lap. I introduced them to the practice and they attended with their daughter regularly for treatments, continuing the practice at home with her and all their family. I remember one day when they arrived for Meta treatment and the little girl decided to go for a walk with her dad while her mum had a treatment. This was the first time she left her mother’s side at the age of three. As we both watched them walk down the path, the mother shed a tear of joy saying, “I am going to be free”. Gradually the girl began to come out of her shell and at the age of five she started attending her local school along with her cousins. She did not speak and did not interact with the children in her class for all of the first year. However, the teacher was understanding and was pleased the girl was paying attention and learning in class.

She had the same teacher in senior infants and on the first day back in school after her summer break she told her about her holiday in Spain. It was the first time the teacher had heard her speak, and the girl’s mother observed the communication at the classroom door, with delight. She began to interact more with the children in the classroom and gradually in the playground. Her good progress continued over the years, she now gives her mother Meta head treatments and reminds the family to do the Hand Symbols when she observes any disturbance. When she celebrated her eleventh birthday, her mum asked her what she would like to do on her special day. “I would like to have a birthday treatment with Margaret”. On her birthday, I could see the wonderful progress she has made since I first met her when she was just two years old. She communicates with natural eye contact, expresses how much she enjoys maths and art at school, is independent minded in her views and has a gentle inner authority. Recently the girl arrived home from school with a cheeky grin on her face saying to her mum, “I got into trouble with my friends today in school”. She is aware of her progress and joining in the fun.  That young girl is one of many children I have observed create a stability of mind with the Meta support of their families.

Robert St John’s book "Prenatal Therapy and the Retarded Child" describes a delay in progress in the child, (Retarded meaning delayed or held back) which covers many conditions from Autism, Downs Syndrome, ADD and Dyslexia etc. I recommend this early publication of Robert’s work to parents who wish to know the basics of Meta so that they can get on with the Meta practice with their children. Jake’s premature birth

On the first of June 2012 baby Jake was born three months prior to his due date, which was to be the first of September.

At 2am on that Friday morning as my husband and myself lay sleeping in our holiday hotel in Portugal, my mobile rang. It was my daughter calling us from St Thomas’s Hospital in London. She was in distress as her waters had broken and the doctor’s expressed concern that the baby had a very slim chance of survival. He was growth restricted due to limited placenta function and was only twenty-six weeks gestation. A caesarean section would be necessary and the consultants were reluctant to do such major surgery because of the small size of the baby, which was now showing signs of distress.

When my mobile rang I sat up in bed as my daughter cried, “Mum, I want to have my baby”. My heart sank for my beautiful daughter who had rested on her couch for two months following a bleed at eighteen weeks to give her baby the best chance for life. She did the Creation 2 Hand Symbol over the baby bump as well as treating the baby directly by placing her hand on the bump every day while resting. I had practiced midwifery in my younger life and could see it from the medical point of view as the doctor’s and midwives observed the distress in the baby’s heart monitor. However, I was now living life from the Meta point of view, which is living in the ‘moment’. Metamorphosis enables us to be creative rather then fearful in stressful situations. I suggested to my daughter to ask the medical people to leave the room to give her and her husband time to do Meta and the Creation Hand Symbols, to create calm and balance and release the fear.

Needless to say, my husband and myself did the Symbols as we awaited a call back. Just about twenty minutes later my daughter rang and informed us that the heart beat was stronger. The Creation Hand Symbols had helped her with the fear and anxiety and she sounded at ease and more positive. The caesarean section was scheduled for later that day. My daughter did the Creation Hand Symbol all through the caesarean section. There was a big team in the theatre for the delivery and to the surprise of all attending, little baby Jake was delivered 600 grams (1lb 3oz), he was strong and determined and the ventilator was removed after just twenty minutes.

There is no doubt that the love and Metamorphosis support that Jake got from his loving parents while he was in the womb and prior to his delivery resulted in his successful caesarean section birth. The great care and dedication by the medical staff supported his physical life. He had many challenges in the first weeks of his life, including abdominal surgery, which the surgeon said that one in five babies die. Due to an infection, which caused the wound to breakdown, Jake had a second surgery ten days after the first one and recovered well.  Finally, a couple of weeks prior to his discharge on the seventh of November 2012 he had a third reversal surgery and has been strong and healthy at home ever since.

The constant Metamorphosis treatments by his parents and family enabled this tiny being to have the strength to go on as a happy and thriving boy, giving us all the joy we now experience in his company.

I have had the privilege to treat many pregnant women in my practice over the years and have seen the sense of calm and well being they experience during their pregnancy and childbirth. My daughter advised me to suggest to all pregnant women who practice Metamorphosis to do the Creation 2 Hand symbol and do direct treatment on the bump regularly during pregnancy. By being in the ‘moment’ you can have a creative outcome to the most difficult and traumatic experiences.

Work Stress and Hypertension.

I was out walking in the glorious sunshine recently when I observed a lady who looked familiar walking towards me with her dog. She looked younger and more energetic then I had remembered. As she approached me smiling we naturally embraced, delighted to catch up, as she had come to me for regular Metamorphosis treatments some years earlier.

When we first met in 2009, she was on medication for high blood pressure for the previous 10 years. She was then in her mid fifties and was overwhelmed with stress at work and was deeply concerned because of a family history of stroke and heart attack.

She approached Metamorphosis with an open mind and a desire to create balance, having seen positive change in a colleague at work. The colleague was a student of mine who recommended her to contact me and she had already introduced her to the Hand Symbols. Initially she attended for Meta treatment once a week and the Hand Symbols became her regular everyday practice. At work she began to catch herself in moments of stress doing the Creation Hand Symbols. As she was living more in the ‘moment' she was observing the conflict at work from a more objective point of view. She was taking things less personally and the balance she was creating changed the stressful moments to more creative ones. Her Doctor gradually began to reduce her medication as he observed a reduction in her blood pressure. He noticed she was more at ease, eventually after about eleven months she was free of her blood pressure meds.

The key to her success is that she took responsibility for her imbalance. She began to 'live in the moment' with her practice of Meta and was no longer controlled by stress at work. She attended Metamorphosis seminars with great enthusiasm to understand and practice Meta for herself and introduce it to her family.

Before we parted to continue our walk in opposite directions she mentioned, "I have never looked back Margaret, Metamorphosis is my way of life. The stress in my life has increased since I first came to you, but my attitude has changed and I am more light hearted and less fearful of disease. My new attitude enables me to maintain normal blood pressure”.

Robert St John used to say "the proof of the pudding is in the eating". The lady tasted the food and enjoyed it.

Going Beyond the symptoms with Meta

Through the practice of Metamorphosis one can 'morph' or become free of unconscious disturbances or 'blocks'. These blocks can manifest in mental, physical, emotional and behavioural symptoms e.g. anxiety, depression, hypertension, insomnia, migraine, backache, eating disorders, addictions etc.

Meta is not about the symptom, but the block or imbalance which is the source of the symptom. The balance of Afference and Efference is the healing factor (refer to the Principle of Metamorphosis).

Meta is about creating the balance, allowing the mind and body to heal naturally and spontaneously. If one keeps it up as a way of life, one can be permanently free of the symptoms and their memory.

In my experience all symptoms can be successfully addressed with Meta, if the person is open to the idea of self healing. The practitioner's role is to be a catalyst, provide support and be an educator of the philosophy. Those who understand the principles of Meta tend to use it more in their every day lives, becoming free of their symptoms which inhibit their creativity.

The time factor changes, from being stuck in the past, or anxious about the future to 'living in the present moment' with a positive attitude. Support is vital in these chaotic times, as we 'morph' the blocks, we become less identified with the chaos and more identified with creation.

The aim of Meta is to create an inner authority and an independent mind, to be free of medication, manipulation and the control of others. The Meta practitioner pays attention with perception in treatment, encouraging the practice of the Hand Symbols.True altruism is the result of finding a balance of Afference and Efference, rather than something one tries to obtain.

Metamorphosis is a philosophy for these challenging times.
